Protesters want government to act on gangsterism

Residents of Hanover Park on Monday took to the streets to demand immediate action from the government to combat increasing gangsterism in the area.  The protest action is still ongoing and tensions seem to be rising.

Hanover is one of the many crime ridden areas in Cape Town mostly fueled by gangsterism.

As part of the protest action, residents are blocking Hanover entry and exit points. According to the Daily Maverick, there a flyer circulating via WhatsApp and on the ground, the Hanover Park Community will attempt to shut down all access to and from the area. No specific association is attached to the flyers.

In one video posted on Twitter, an elderly protester can be seen blocking traffic in the presence of police officials.
