A 4-year-old girl from Hanover Park who was struck in the head by a stray bullet during a gang shooting has reportedly lost her eye.
Chloe van der Westhuizen was among the five people who were shot and wounded when a gunman opened fire in Algoa Court last week on Thursday.
According to the IOL, the little girl is supposed to go for a second operation this week, as doctors attempt to remove the bullet from her head.
A mass prayer service was held for Chloe on Sunday.
The service was hosted by the Kingdom Christian Church together with the Leon Jacobs Foundation and the Jacomus Foundation.
“We came out in our numbers to say, ‘listen Mr. Gunman, and you that gave the instruction (to shoot), we want to send a strong message to all involved in this gang war, that life is about decisions and what you decide is what your life will be,” Pastor Leon Jacobs said during the service.
A 20-year-old suspect was arrested on Friday morning following incident.
