Gunmen kill four men in Wellington

Reports from the scene indicate that gunmen clad in black with faces concealed, entered a property in Mnandi street and went to a shack at the back of the premises and opened fire.

Detectives in the Western Cape have initiated a probe after gunmen killed four men in Wellington late on Saturday evening.

Crime scene experts were still scouring the crime scene on Sunday morning.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), reports from the scene indicate that gunmen clad in black with faces concealed, entered a property in Mnandi street, Newrest, Wellington and went to a shack at the back of the premises.

“Several shots were fired resulting in the death of four men in their twenties and one sustaining serious gunshot injuries,” said police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa.

Police are investigating four murder cases and one attempted murder case.

The victims are yet to be identified.

Police have appealed to anyone with information that may assist in the investigation to contact police on 08600 10111 or relay information via the MYSAPSAPP.
