Franschhoek chainsaw attack victim discharged from hospital

Andy Makoma, a victim of a vicious chainsaw attack in his home in Franschhoek has been discharged from hospital and is recovering well at home.

Makoma was attacked on his birthday in front of his wife and children.

He survived the horrific attack but doctors had to amputate his badly injured arm.

Brian Farley a friend of Makoma shared an update on social media after he was discharged from hospital.

“There is still a lot of damage and wounds that need to be dressed every few days so the fight is not over yet. The man has survived having his arm cut off, bleeding out to the point of dying from blood loss and also getting COVID-19 while in the hospital!”

Farley also indicated that the Franschhoek community is now working towards getting justice for Makoma.

” We are currently fighting an uphill battle against the authorities and without massive efforts and interventions, the suspect would still have been roaming free in the community,” he said.
