A hiking party comprising of 2 men, one woman and a girl was yesterday rescued by Cape Town city Conservation Rangers after being forced to flee deeper into the Crystal Pools hiking trail. According to Wilderness Search and Rescue (WSAR), this followed harassment by some baboons they encountered on the trail.
The group is said to have,
Fled up to the gorge after being harassed by some baboons.
Later, a rescue call was activated and the conservation rangers were on call to execute.
While WSAR rescue mountaineers and logistical support crew were placed on precautionary standby, conservation rangers from the City of Cape Town drove to the head of the gorge and hiked downwards with the aim of locating the stricken hiking party.
The hikers were located with no injuries and were escorted to safety.
