4 Franschhoek police officers due in court for lockdown breaches

A former station commander of Camps Bay SAPS has been arrested on charges of indecent assault and the possession of child pornography.

65-year-old Zbiegniew Andrzej Weclaw was arrested at his Vredehoek home on Tuesday, November 24 after police officers found an unlicensed firearm and multiple boxes filled with home-made pornographic DVDs, many of which featured young boys.

Weclaw’s son Daniel came forward and exposed the alleged sexual abuse he suffered at his father’s hands throughout his childhood.

He wrote on Facebook that he was sexually assaulted for years, begining at the age of 6-years-old until the end of primary school.

Daniel said he had attempted to report the abuse many times, however all his efforts were thwarted by his father’s connections within the police force.

Weclaw was arrested on 24 November following the discovery of child-porn DVDs by his son Daniel. He appeared in court on the same day.

He was released on bail and will appear in court again on January 25 next year.
