Residents in Elsies River, Cape Town built a 2.3m high by nearly 20m wide wall to prevent criminals from accessing their community after their attempts to get the City to intervene failed.
The City of Cape Town threatened to demolish the wall, and the community is now in a dispute with the City, claiming that the wall is an important crime prevention measure.
The City did not confirm whether they had received complaints before the wall was built.
