Dysselsdorp man arrested as murder suspect in brother’s weekend death

According to the police initial investigations suggest that the two had a fight late on Saturday night whereby the suspect slapped the deceased in his face, causing him to fall down to the ground.

A Dysselsdorp man was arrested this weekend in connection with his older brother’s death.

The 41-year-old man is scheduled to appear in the Oudtshoorn Magistrates’ court on Monday following the death of his 46-year-old brother who succumbed to head injury following an altercation on Saturday, 24 April 2021.

The incident happened at their home in Baadjie Street, Dysselsdorp.

According to the police initial investigations suggest that the two had a fight late on Saturday night whereby the suspect slapped the deceased in his face, causing him to fall down to the ground.

It is alleged that his head hit a huge concrete object where after the deceased suffered some drowsiness. He apparently refused to go to the hospital to receive medical treatment and later went to bed.

Earlier on Sunday, 25 April at about 11:00 when they attempted to wake up the deceased, they realized that he had succumbed to injuries sustained to the head.

According to witness reports the bedding was stained with blood he threw up whilst coughing profusely during the night.

The body was handed over to Forensic Pathology who will perform an autopsy during the week to determine the possible cause of death.

The brother of the deceased was subsequently arrested and charged with his murder.
