Cold front expected to make landfall in the Western Cape on Sunday

The cold front is expected to be preceded by strong 50-60km/h north-westerly winds- possibly gusting up to 70-80km/h at times), over the interior of the Northern Cape and Western Cape provinces.
Cold front to bring snow to Western Cape

A cold front is expected to make landfall in the Western Cape on Sunday evening 8 August 2021.

The cold front is expected to be preceded by strong 50-60km/h north-westerly winds- possibly gusting up to 70-80km/h at times), over the interior of the Northern Cape and Western Cape provinces.

The South African Weather Services (SAWS) has issued a Yellow Level 2 Warning for Wind resulting in localised problems for high-sided vehicles as they may be at risk of being blown over due to cross-winds on prone routes such as the N1, R321, and R43.

Localised damage to infrastructure like roofs blown off, especially over informal settlements, problems for power and communications lines is also a possibility.
