City plans to resume MyCiTi N2 Express route service early next year

The City of Cape Town’s new mayoral committee member for transport, Roberto Quintas, plans to have the MyCiTi buses N2 Express service reinstated by early next year.

The N2 Express service was terminated in May 2019 following a dispute among the route’s taxi industry shareholders.

The suspension of the N2 Express service had a devastating impact on commuters from Khayelitsha and Mitchells Plain who were relying on this service to travel to and from the Cape Town central business district.

“We are at a point where we are ready to sit around a table and take the necessary meaningful steps that we need to have this service back online,”

“It is my greatest wish and hope to see that commuters from those communities in Mitchell’s Plain and Khayelitsha have access to the CBD and surrounds via the MyCiti network on the N2 Express from the beginning of next year,” Quintas said in an interview with GroundUp.
