An security officer was killed and three other injured when unidentified suspects bombed an SBV cash van during a cash-in-transit robbery in Gugulethu.
The police’s Colonel Brenda Muridili said that the suspects were driving a Toyota Quantum when they targeted the cash van in NY 7 in Gugulethu on Monday at 5.30pm.
Muridili said the suspects disarmed the guards before using explosives to gain access to the safe in the vehicle.
In the explosion one of the guards was fatally injured while three others sustained injuries.
The suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and are yet to be apprehended.
The SBV Services is offering a reward of up to R1 million for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the suspects who attacked the SBV team.
