Taxi violence: Several shootings in Cape Town

The City of Cape Town’s traffic services’ Kevin Jacobs said that they’ve noted this apparent stay-away in Khayelitsha, Nyanga, Delft, Gugulethu, Samora Machel and Philippi.

The reason for this action is unclear, however it may be linked to the ongoing taxi violence in Cape Town which has claimed the lives of 72 people since January.

The violence had resulted in the suspension of taxi services.

Services resumed on Friday following the peace agreement, however another taxi driver was shot and killed in Khayelitsha on Saturday night.
