Cape Comedian mistakenly arrested for murder

“I was confused and ashamed as my wife and children stood there helplessly watching the police take me away,”he said.

Cape Town comedian Shakir ‘Chuqy’ Hansen got the shock of his life when police locked him up for murder , in a case of mistaken identity.

The 28 year-old known especially for his famous alter ego Chandre from the Kaapdashians, was arrested on Saturday night at his Mitchells Plain home.

He said “I was washing my son, 3, and daughter, 7, when I heard a knock at the door and was greeted by 12 armed policemen surrounding my house,”

Shakir was informed by a SAPS officer that he was being arrested for murder.

“I was confused and ashamed as my wife and children stood there helplessly watching the police take me away,”he said.

He said the issue started when police from Mfuleni SAPS went to his mother’s house searching for him as he was apparently a witness to a murder that happened at Beacon Hill High.

A few days after the first incident police returned to his mother’s house, this time they said they wanted to arrest him for the murder as someone had told the police he was the killer.

Shakir was released on Monday, after the detective who came in from Mfuleni showed  him a video of the murder, and realized they had arrested the wrong man.

Sgt. Noloyiso Rwexana , Police spokesperson however said Mitchells Plain SAPS had no record of the incident.
