A body, burnt beyond recognition, was discovered in an open field in Delft, Cape Town on Thursday afternoon.

The body was discovered near Blikkiesdorp by members of a local community police forum.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi said members on patrol responded to a complaint on Thursday at about 16:30pm and drove to an open field near Blikkiesdorp in Delft.

“Upon arrival at the scene, they found the body of an unknown person that was burned beyond recognition. Parts of the burned body was still tied with wires. The motive for the attack is unknown. The suspects are unknown and yet to be arrested,” Swartbooi said.

In the meantime some community members believe that the remains are that of Tyrese Armoed from Blikkiesdorp.

The 17-year-old went missing on June 11.

Western Cape Missing Persons founder Candice van der Rheede was at the scene and told the Weekend Argus that there are no clothes or anything to tell if it is the missing teen Tyrese.
