The body of a 22-year-old librarian, Clodine Nuys was found tied up behind a crèche near the Groot Brak River in Mossel Bay.

Nuys’ body was discovered around 18:50 pm [on Tuesday], at the back of the local crèche near the Groot Brak River.

Nuys reported for duty at her workplace- the Jonkersberg library, around 07:00 on Tuesday, however she did not return home in the afternoon like she always did.

The family reported her missing to the police after a search for her with the help of community members failed to yield any results.

According to Western Cape Police Captain Malcolm Pojie, her hands and feet were bound with tape and a cable tie was around her neck.

Moreover, her cellphone and the keys to the library were reported to be missing.

After  forensic experts and investigator combed the crime scene they were led to a house in the same village where a possible suspect fled the area.

Police have since scaled up the search for the suspect.

Nuys is said to have worked at the library for the last three years and was well known in the community.
