Body believed to be Heidi Scheepers recovered from sea

The recovery effort will now focus on the missing daughter Cuzette, 6.

A body believed to be that of missing George mother Heidi Scheepers, 35, was found in the ocean near Herolds Bay beach on Saturday afternoon.

The search for Heidi Scheepers, 35, her daughter, 6, and son, 2, comes after they disappeared at about 6pm on Tuesday, sparking a huge search operation in the Herolds Bay area. The family had gone for a walk at the beach and reported missing by Heidi’s husband Ettiene, 36, when they failed to come home hours later.

Southern Cape Police spokesperson Captain Malcom Pojies said the body had been handed over to forensic pathologists to conduct an autopsy.

“One of the residents near the Bay area spotted the body and alerted us, it was recovered by NSRI around 12.30pm and an autopsy will be done over the next couple of days,” Pojie’s said

The Scheepers family own the Herolds Bay Cafe and run the Garden Route Property Management group that manages several holiday homes in the area.

The body of 2 year old Hugo, was found floating in a gorge in Voëlklip on Friday.

The search effort will now turn to the missing daughter Cuzette, 6.

“We have been searching the area from Wilderness to Mossel Bay since Wednesday but we unfortunately still haven’t been able to trace the daughter,” Pojie said.
