Beachgoers in shock as Aardvark washes ashore: Rare sight on Cape beach raises questions

The SPCA conducted an autopsy on the carcass of the animal and also looked at camera footage and took into account reports received from several eyewitnesses.

The SPCA has launched an investigation into the discovery of a female Aardvark on the Sunset beach in Milnerton, South Africa. The animal was in good condition upon discovery and was collected from the beach by the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds. The SPCA conducted an autopsy which revealed the animal was already dead by the time it went into the water, either having been dumped overboard a ship close to shore or was somehow put into the sea from land. The SPCA is appealing to anyone who might have any information to please contact the organization to help solve this wildlife mystery.

What can you do?

  • Contact the SPCA to report any information related to the mystery of the aardvark.
  • Research the animal cruelty laws in the area to ensure that any potential perpetrators are held accountable.
  • Donate to the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB) to help support their efforts in protecting wildlife.
