A group of ANC members staged a picket on Tuesday outside the eNCA offices in Cape Town.
The members joined other anti-racism pickets across the country following claims of racism against the broadcaster’s political journalist, Lindsay Dentlinger.
The ANC has slammed the eNCA management’s justification of the journalist’s conduct during the coverage of the Budget Speech.
Dentlinger sparked a public uproar when video clips on YouTube showed her asking Black Members of Parliament to keep their masks on during an interview while allowing White MPs to speak without a mask.
The eNCA however said Dentlinger’s conduct during the coverage of the Budget Speech was not racially motivated or with malicious intent.
In an interview on Monday night, Dentlinger said it was an oversight on her part not to ask Freedom Front Plus leader, Pieter Groenewald to put on his mask during the interviews.
The ANC has demanded that the eNCA issues an apology for its statement, defending Dentlinger and also that the organization sends its journalists and staff for human rights training.
The ANC has given eNCA management seven days to respond to their grievances.
