Teen falls to his death while hiking on Arangieskop Trail, Robertson

“The boy had unfortunately succumbed to his injuries, and was declared deceased on the scene.”

A teenage boy fell to his death while hiking down a gorge in Arangieskop Trail, Robertson on Sunday morning.

Wilderness Search and Rescue (WSAR) said:

“On Sunday the 24th of March 2019 at 8.30am, the Helicopter Emergency Medical Services was dispatched to the Arangieskop Trail in Robertson in order to retrieve a teenage boy who had taken a fall while hiking down a gorge.”

Two medical Rescue Technicians and a Rescue Climber were lowered down to the teen, but unfortunately the teen he had already passed away.

“The boy had unfortunately succumbed to his injuries, and was declared deceased on the scene.”

WSAR said the deceased was hoisted into the helicopter, delivered to a temporary landing zone and handed over to the Western Cape Forensic Pathology Services.

“We convey our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the decreased.”
