A man who shared a video claiming that South Africa’s Covid-19 testing kits are contaminated has been arrested in Parow, Western Cape.
In a widely shared video posted from Facebook the 55-year- old suspect urges South Africans to refuse government initiated Covid-19 community screening.
He claimed that swabs used to test for Covid-19 are already contaminated with the virus and will be used to spread the virus.
“The suspect has been charged in terms of Regulation 11(5)(c) of the Disaster Management Act, in relation to “publishing any statement through any medium including social media with the intention to deceive any other person about measures by the government to address COVID-19,” said a statement from SAPS.
