Man shot dead in another Cape Town minibus shooting, in the space of two days

Cape Town authorities believe the Hout Bay shootings were the result of an apparent turf war over routes between two rival taxi associations.

A man was found shot dead in a minibus taxi at Sybrand Park in Cape Town on Tuesday.

Sunday Times photographer Esa Alexander, who was at the scene, said:

“The taxi is parked on the side of the road and we understand it was the driver who was shot. The mortuary van has just left with the body. There are number of people at scene who are talking to the police.”

It is still unclear weather the shooting is linked to a taxi related incident in Hout Bay which left four people dead and two others wounded on Monday.

Eyewitness reports said between 70 and 150 rounds were fired that incident.

A week earlier, yet another person was gunned down in the coastal suburb.
