A man drowned off Sea Point in Cape Town on Sunday afternoon, and rescuers were scrambling to find another three people still missing in the surf, National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) spokesperson Craig Lambinon said.
Three NSRI stations, a Skymed helicopter and emergency medical services were discharged to search for two teenage men and a teenage woman still missing in the sea by mid afternoon.
Earlier, one man out of the group of four was found, he was pronounced dead after extensive CPR efforts to revive him failed.
The male is believed to be in his early twenties.
“An extensive search is being continued for the three missing people and further updates will follow,” said Lambinon.
