Tourist couple attacked and robbed in Victoria Bay

Armed men pounced on the couple on the hiking trail between Victoria Bay and Wilderness.

A French couple was attacked and robbed by armed men on the hiking trail between Victoria Bay and Wilderness on Tuesday, 19 November 2019.

Unconfirmed reports say the man sustained stab wounds to his back and head, while the wife escaped with scratches and bruises.

ER24 paramedics transported the couple to the Mediclinic George.

The couple was robbed of a black backpack.

At this stage it is unclear how many suspects the police are looking for. The suspects fled on foot.

A Canadian tourist was also allegedly assaulted and robbed along the walkway beneath the Dolphin’s Point lookout point in Wilderness on Monday 4 November.

Mediclinic George confirmed that the woman had been admitted on Monday and had undergone an operation before being discharged on Tuesday 5 November. The hospital did not want to divulge any more information.
