Cape Cop shoots dog at point-blank range in front of owners

"It is so upsetting because this is someone who is meant to uphold the law and abuses a position of power and contravenes the law,"

A family from Scottsdene near Kraaifontein will be laying charges against a cop accused of shooting their dog at point-blank range.

The Cape of Good Hope SPCA is assisting the family with compilation of the docket.

Communications, Resource Development and Education Manager at the Cape of Good Hope SPCA Belinda Abraham says: The SPCA has been informed that the family was attempting to put the dog away safely when the police officer allegedly shot the dog.

“It posed no threat to anybody and their story is that the dog was shot at point-blank range.”

“It is so upsetting because this is someone who is meant to uphold the law and abuses a position of power and contravenes the law,” she added.

Abraham said the matter will not be allowed to rest and that it will be taken the full distance.
