15-year-old boy struck by train while ‘playing’ on railway tracks in Cape Town

The accident took place near the Bonteheuwel suburb.

A 15-year-old boy was struck by a train while allegedly playing on railway tracks along one of Cape Town’s Metrorail routes, police said on Tuesday.

Police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk said:

“The boy is alive and [SA Police Service] members are with him at a nearby day hospital.”

The accident took place near the Bonteheuwel suburb.

According to Angus McKenzie, Bonteheuwel councillor the 15-year-old boy was with his 12-year-old friend when the incident occurred.

The 12-year-old was not injured, but was in a state of shock.
