66 year-old Ottery man arrested on charges of sexually assaulting 18 boys

The Ottery Community was left stunned following the arrest of a 66-year-old man on charges of rape and sexual assault. According to the police the accused person allegedly sexually abused 18 boys.

Spokesperson Andre Traut said “A 66-year-old man was arrested (on Monday) afternoon on charges of rape and sexual assault. It is alleged that the accused lured boys into sexual deeds over a period of about a year.”

The Grassy Park community policing forum is apprehensive about the incident. Spokesperson Philip Bam said “We have been informed about this matter and, though we do not have much information yet, it is understood that (these charges) just scratch the surface.”

The forum has encouraged parents to be vigilant concerning their children’s activities as well as whereabouts.

The child rights organization Molo Songololo, has taken into account a spike in the number of cases of boys coming forward as victims of sexual abuse.
