Police are searching for four missing youths, who were allegedly killed in a mob justice attack and thrown into a river that runs through an informal settlement in Driftsands.
The four young men aged between 15 and 23, were allegedly assaulted by a group of people after they were accused of stealing from homes in Mfuleni.
Divers were sent to the area on Saturday after relatives of two of the victims reported them missing.
“As part of the inquiry, police divers were called out to the area late on Saturday afternoon. Their search led to the retrieval of a body of an unidentified man, not linked to the four missing youths early on Saturday evening,” said police spokesperson Novela Potelwa.
The search continued on Sunday and another body was recovered from the water by police divers in the afternoon.
The search for the rest of the victims is still ongoing.
