Four children have been hospitalized following a near-drowning incident at Herolds Bay, George.
The incident happened on Wednesday 28 October 2020.
According to ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring paramedics responded to the incident and found teachers providing first aid to two girls and two boys.
The children are between the ages of 10 and 14-years-old.
“Medics assessed the two girls and two boys, aged between 10 and 14, and found that one had sustained moderate injuries, while the three others had sustained minor injuries. The children were treated and thereafter transported to George Provincial Hospital for further assessment. The details surrounding this incident are not yet known,” Meiring said.
The two brothers in their 20s were fishing on the rocks when one was knocked off the rocks by a wave.
The second brother then ran to fetch the pink NSRI buoy to help his brother, however, he was also knocked off the rocks into the sea on his way back.
Fortunately, both of them managed to make it back to the shore.
The men sustained numerous soft tissue injuries, from being bashed against the rocks.
They were treated by ER24 paramedics and thereafter transported to George Provincial Hospital for further medical attention.
