Western Cape police have announced the arrest of a suspect for the brutal murder of school teacher Helga van Wyk on 10 June.
Helga van Wyk, a teacher at Monument Park High School in Kraaifontein, was found murdered in her Durbanville home.
Helga and her husband Johann were at their home when assailants broke in.
While defending his wife against the attackers, Johann was stabbed several times and Helga tragically died in the attack.
Western Cape police spokesperson Mihlali Majikela said on Monday,
“Kindly be advised that this office can confirm that, according to police reports, Durbanville police arrested a 29-year-old man for the murder that took place four months ago at Protea Street in Durbanville,”
“He is due to appear in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court for murder and attempted murder,” added Majikela.
