2 men arrested for impersonating police officers in Cape Town CBD

“The men were approached and questioned, and the fact that the one was wearing a lady’s uniform shirt raised more suspicion...."

Two men were arrested in Cape Town for impersonating police officers on Monday morning.The two men were dressed in  police uniform and were in possession of an unlicensed fire arm.

Police patrollers noticed and approached the two suspects sitting in a VW Golf in Long Street.

Lieutenant- Colonel Andre Traut said “The men were approached and questioned, and the fact that one was wearing a lady’s uniform shirt raised more suspicion. The two suspects were searched and an unlicensed 9mm firearm with eight rounds of ammunition were found in their possession. The vehicle was fitted with false number plates and the possibility that it is stolen is being investigated.”

The suspects aged 45 and 46, are will appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s court soon on charges of impersonating a police officer and illegal possession of an unlicensed firearm.
